Atlanta’s Best Winter Events For Kids And Families

Atlanta’s Best Winter Events For Kids And Families

BRRR, it’s cold in here!

Is it just me or does the winter season make you want to go into full-on hibernation mode? There’s just something about the 30-degree weather that screams fireplace, cuddles, and staying home! BUT if you’ve got little ones, like me, then you know staying inside all winter is highly unlikely! There’s only so many crafts I can force on them before we all go crazy! So to help those winter months go by a little faster, I’ve created a list of the best kid-friendly events in and around Atlanta!  So grab your coziest sweater, a hot cup of cocoa, and gather up the kiddos because these are a MUST!

Snow Mountain – Stone Mountain, GA
November 18 – February 25

This is the perfect winter wonderland adventure! Snow tubing, sledding, snowball fights, building a snowman, snow forts, and SO MUCH MORE. Designed for kids of all ages, this is the perfect outing for the entire family. If you’re from Atlanta then your kids probably don’t get to see snow that often. Aside from the BIZARRE amount we got this past weekend this would be a great place to take the kiddos so they can experience all the fun that comes with “real” snow! They also have a pretty cool Christmas Celebration and New Year’s Eve Event worth checking out!

Skate The Station – Atlanta, GA
December 14 – February 18

Skate the Station at Atlantic Station is the largest outdoor skating event in Atlanta. And guess what? It’s here all winter so you have plenty of time to experience it! Perfect outing for the whole family with lots of laughs and if you’re as uncoordinated as me – lots of falls. But don’t worry they offer trainer guides for the kids, the newbies & the clumsy. Check out their website for admission rates & season pass tickets (this may be a trip you’ll want to make a few times). Plus after your done skating you can check out some of their other kid-friendly events like the Snow Shows (now through January 1st) & Santa’s Cottage (now through Christmas Eve)!

Top Golf Kid’s Winter Academy – Alpharetta & Atlanta, GA
December 27 – 29

Class is in session… but like the fun class where you can do a lot of cool stuff, eat lunch and hang with friends! I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for fun activities for Autumn to participate in when school is out for the holiday break! If you are too, you should totally check out Top Golf’s Kids Winter Academy! It’s 3 days of non-stop entertainment AND learning at all Top Golf locations. This is a drop off event, so no need to stay. Mama can have an afternoon to herself! You know you need it – especially after all the crazy aftermath of Christmas! If your kiddos are between the ages of 6-12, check out their website for more information & enroll them today!

New Year’s Eve Bubble Bash – Atlanta, GA
December 31

(Image by Children’s Museum of Atlanta)

Countdown the New Year with your kiddies at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta during their annual New Year’s Eve Bubble Bash! There will be a dance party, special guests, bubble-wrap fireworks and more! The event is 2.5 hours long and there are both morning and afternoon events! From what I hear these tickets sell out fast so get them while you can!

Winter Wonderland – Atlanta, GA
November 17 – January 7

Walking in a winter wonderland! The Fernbank Museum is hosting their Winter Wonderland event now through January. Take the whole family and enjoy two floors of beautiful trees showcasing different traditions and holidays around the world. Certain days will even have activities, performances, and Santasaurus! Perfect for kids of all ages! Go to their website for more details and ticket prices. Oh & while you’re at it you may want to check out their New Year’s Eve Party for kids with a huge balloon drop!

The Lion King Musical- Atlanta, GA
January 10-28

I have been DYING to go to this and I am making it a point to go this year! The theatre itself is breathtaking & I have heard nothing but AMAZING things about this show! The Lion King is the 3rd longest-running Broadway show and it has won 70 major theatre awards internationally. That must mean they are doing something right! Tickets are a little pricey, but from what I’ve heard it’s totally worth it! Simba here we come!

Beauty and the Beast by Atlanta Ballet 2 – Atlanta, GA
February 8, 10 & 11

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies (next to The Little Mermaid). Your entire family will love watching this performance at The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. I’ve seen tickets as low as $10 and all children under 1 are free!

Disney On Ice – Duluth & Atlanta, GA
February 15 – 19; February 22 – 25

What parent doesn’t like Disney? Wait…I meant kid. What KID doesn’t like Disney?! Minnie & Mickey Mouse, Dory, Nemo, Buzz & Woody, Simba, all the Disney Princesses & those Frozen sisters too! I mean seriously what’s better than all the Disney characters together in place? I’ll wait… No, but seriously. We took Autumn to Disney on Ice a couple years ago and she still talks about it to this day! She was mesmerized and had so much fun singing along to all the songs. In my opinion, this is best for children  3+, but they welcome all ages. They will perform at both the Phillips Arena and the Infinite Energy Arena in February. Tickets start at just $15.

Do you plan on attending any of these events with your family? What winter activities do you and your family enjoy doing? I want to hear about them in the comments!
