Happy Friday everyone! Yesterday was my ONE YEAR blogging anniversary! Can you believe it?! It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in front of my computer contemplating whether I should even start a blog or not … and now look, here it is! I am so amazed at far I have come since then and how much I have learned about the blogging world. I’m totally patting myself on the back for continuing to follow my passion for writing. It’s been such an amazing and fulfilling journey and I can’t wait to see where I will be this time next year.
In the past year, I’ve gained so many new followers and friends so I figured I would celebrate my first blogging anniversary by allowing my readers to get to know me a little more. There is a face behind the blog and social media posts that I don’t share too often (especially if you don’t know me personally). So today I’m keeping this post short and fun (and a little weird) by sharing 15 random facts about me. So here it goes:
SIDE NOTE: This was actually a lot harder than I thought. Funny how I can write about anything else under the sun, but when it’s time to write about myself my mind literally draws a blank.
Fact #1
My middle name is Danyelle. So, I’m Aerica Danyelle. I guess my parents wanted everyone to misspell my name my entire life (seriously what’s up with the silent A and substituted Y?)
Fact #2
I was born in Scotland. And no, that doesn’t make me Scottish (I hate when people assume that). Both of my parents were in the military, my mom got out of the military when I was 2.5 but my dad stayed for most of my childhood. By the time I was 7 years old, I had lived in Scotland, Virginia Beach, and even Italy. Not many people can say they’ve been overseas, let alone lived there, so I feel extremely blessed to have been able to experience it. I am hoping that one day I can travel overseas again with my own children. I would love to visit South Korea, which brings me to my next fact…
Fact #3
I’m Black & Korean. My mom’s side of the family is from Korea and Korean was her very first language (more of an interesting fact about her but whatevs). Unfortunately, I don’t embrace my Asian side as much as I should, but I am hoping to change that by visiting my extended family in South Korea someday. I would love to absorb the culture and learn some new words! But for now, I’ll stick to what I know – bulgogi, kimchi, and kam-sa-ham-ni-da (I probably spelled that completely wrong, but it means thank you)
Fact #4
I was 4 months pregnant with my first child when I graduated high school. Yep – a baby having a baby! I didn’t start showing until I was 7 months, so I hid it well but I’m pretty sure everyone in school knew about it.

Fact #5
I met my best friend on Facebook and we just met for the first time this past July! Hey, Amanda!

Fact #6
I’m addicted to Dr. Pepper. I’ve tried to quit a couple times but I haven’t been able to go more than 5 days without.
Fact #7
I have this super, awkward, strange talent where I can make myself sound like a cat. I won’t go into further detail. Just know – I may have been a cat in my past life.
Fact #8
I like to dip my pizza crust into cinnamon flavored applesauce because it tastes like apple pie. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! (Seriously though, try it)
Fact #9
While we’re on the subject of food, you should know that I hate eggs (unless it’s in a cake). I will gag if I even have to smell them.
Fact #10
I have a younger sister and we’re 4.5 years apart, I’m pretty sure she looks like the older one though. Ain’t she purrtty?!
Fact #11
Titanic, Remember the Titans and all the Fast & Furious sequels are my favorite movies! This may or may not be because I have the biggest crush on Leonardo, Denzel, Tyrese and Paul Walker.
Fact #12
I’m addicted to candles. I love all scents, but anything lavender based is my favorite.
Fact #13
My very first email address was aerbear_xo91@hotmail.com … then I grew up.
Fact #14
For show & tell, in 4th grade, I told the whole class I was BFFs with Mary-Kate & Ashley. I even brought in their autographs (written in crayon, on printer paper with handwriting very similar to my own ). The whole class believed me and I’m pretty sure they still do. Oops, secrets out!
Last but not least… Fact #15
Some of my closest friends call me E… I don’t really know how that happened considering my name starts with an A. But I like it.
I hope these were interesting and not too boring to read. I absolutely love you if you made it through all 15 without yawning. But no, seriously… that was actually pretty therapeutic. Can you relate to any of these things? If so, let me know in the comments. Or please feel free to share some random or weird facts about you, too. I really want to build a relationship with all my readers so drop those weird facts in the comments! I can’t wait to read them.
If you’d like to know a little bit more about me and why I started this blog, go check out my About Me page. I also like to post other random snippets of my life on Instagram. Feel free to give me a follow there too if you’d like!
Congrats on your first anniversary blogging! I enjoyed reading these, especially the Leonardo, Denzel, Tyrese and Paul Walker part…. good choices! Fun fact about me… I think I’m addicted to podcasts (specifically self help / entrepreneurial/ women run / empowering).
Thank you! That’s awesome. I’m addicted to self books that focus on girl power! I would love to listen to podcasts. Do you have any that you recommend?
Your blogs are amazing and Congo for your first anniversary
Thank you so much!
Do you speak any other languages?
No, I don’t. I know small words here and there, but cannot speak it fluently or understand someone who is fluent. I wish!
Congratulations on one year of blogging. Good luck. Great to know you through your post.
Thank you so much for reading.
