How I Got My Picky Toddler to Eat His Vegetables

How I Got My Picky Toddler to Eat His Vegetables

I’ve been dealing with a picky toddler for what feels like FOREVER.  Ever since my son started eating solids he has been very meticulous about what he would and would not eat. He liked bananas, pears, and apples and that was about as far as it went. He wouldn’t dare touch anything that had vegetables in it. I assumed that as he got older and could eat real meals that his taste buds would change. But surprise, surprise – here we were almost 2 years later & it had actually gotten worse.

A typical meal in our household would consist of pizza, chicken nuggets, or goldfish. If it was a good day, I MIGHT have been able to convince him to eat spaghetti. Needless to say, he still refused to eat vegetables.

I know a lot of people say not to worry about these things because it’s just a “phase” and they will outgrow it – but honestly it really concerned me. Although, I do believe that children go through many phases, not having a healthy diet is something that didn’t sit well with me. Especially once I noticed that his poor nutrition was affecting his health & overall immune system. He would poop maybe twice a week and was literally getting sick once a month, if not more.

For months I was on the hunt to find a way to get some greens in his diet! I tried countless of those fun, kid-friendly Pinterest meals. You know the meals where the veggies are hidden in cute & creative ways – but he would pick at his food until he found the veggies and then refuse to eat it. I tried smoothies but he hated the texture and wouldn’t drink them. I also tried the veggie pouches, but he would take one sip and gag.

It got to the point where mealtimes were dreaded in our house because it was a constant battle between me, him, and the plate of peas. I was tired of slaving in the kitchen coming up with these extravagant homemade meals only for my picky toddler to push his plate away and ask for chicken nuggets. Even his daycare provider told me she has never met a toddler as picky as my son. It was beyond frustrating.

I was at my wits’ end and ready to give up… until I was introduced to 8Greens!

What is 8Greens?

8Greens is a dietary supplement (in tablet form) that helps you get greens into your diet! The reason it’s called 8Greens is because it’s made from 8 different greens: spinach, organic wheatgrass, kale, organic blue-green algae, organic spirulina, organic chlorella, organic barley grass, organic aloe vera. AND it’s free of sugar, wheat, gluten, allergens, dairy, preservatives, and salt!

One tablet of 8Greens includes:

  • As much vitamin C as 6 oranges
  • As much vitamin B5 as 15 cups of broccoli
  • As much vitamin B12 as 7 cups of milk
  • As much vitamin B6 as 6 cups of spinach
I mean… WOW!!

8Greens - Dietary Supplement

How do you use it?

It’s super easy to use! You simply drop the green tablet into 8oz of water and watch it fizz. Once it dissolves, it’s ready to drink! My son LOVES watching his water turn a different color. We call it his green juice! They recommend that adults 18+ take a max of 3 tablets per day and 1 tablet per day for children ages 4-18. Since my son is about a month shy from 3, I only give him half a tablet, every other day. We usually buy water bottles (my son loves drinking out of them) and drop the tablet inside!

What does it taste like?

Surprisingly, the taste is not bad at all. I tasted it before I gave it to my son for the first time and it had a sweet lemon-lime flavor to it! He loves it and usually begs for more!

Where can you get it?

Right now, the 8Greens website only allows you to purchase in bulk. If you’d like to purchase a single tube  (10 tablets) you can do it HERE for only $15.99!! Once your picky toddler tries it & you see how much they love it (and believe me, they will) then I recommend purchasing in bulk directly from their website.

I no longer have to combat my toddler to eat his vegetables because it’s something he actually WANTS TO DO! Another super cool thing about this supplement is that everyone in the family can take them. Every now and then, we all have days where we get so busy, end up picking up fast food, and forget about our daily greens. These tablets make it so easy for days like those. The tube is convenient to carry – just throw it in your purse or diaper bag so that you always have it on you. My son has been using 8Greens for about a month now and I’ve already seen a difference in his bowel movements (pooping more consistently & less constipated) and his immune system!

I can’t say enough good things about 8Greens! I know a lot of parents struggle with picky toddlers and I wanted to share this product with you guys because IT WORKS!! It has been completely life-changing for me and my family and I hope this helps another family who has been dealing with something as difficult as a picky toddler!

What a saving grace, especially to get that good nutrition in! Fabulous!

  2. I feel grateful that my kids love veggies but this is an awesome idea!

  3. Omg Aerica, this is such a perfect product for toddlers!!!! My kids eat veggies sometimes, but other times they refuse. This would take the pressure off on the days when they don’t eat anything green! Haha

  4. I think I need to add this into my own diet. I hate veggies haha.

  5. I have a toddler, too! Meal times are certainly exciting. Lol. This is a great way to keep the little ones healthy.
